4 handed, I'm the BB.
UTG folds, button folds, sb raises, I look down at K2 suited and figure he could raise with anything, so I call.
flop King Hearts Two (Duece) Hearts Three (trey) Diamonds
He bets, I raise, he threebets, I make it 4, while looking at him and saying "You're going to have to beat me."
He calls.
Turn : Ace Diamonds
I'm sick, because he bets right out. Pot's big. I call because he might have AQ or something. He might have AK or AA, in which case I'm an idiot.
Fear not, my idiocy comes regardless.
River :
Nine Diamonds
He bets. I call. I say Flopped Kings up, and he grins... I table my cards and the dealer stares at me.
I look down at them and say "I'm an idiot".
Staring at me :
King Diamonds Two (Duece) Diamonds
Rivered the nut flush. I called. Guy woulda paid many bets there. From his look, he had AA.
He left the table. Came back 30 minutes later to collect his chips.
Made a lot of good plays down there. Can't ever get this one out of my head. |

Hehe, nice try but it didn't happen for yout here did it.
I've played worse though never at any real loss, fortunately. I'm big on trying to push people out of hands early on, but that often means I'm left well into a hand with very little praying I don't get called! |

How true - I think you were holding out a little too much there to see the bigger picture. You had considered what he may have, and his aggressive style was either a bluff or your worst fears confirmed.
It's always the same though, you play on the chance of a nice flop or river card and end up holding very little and you look a Class A idiot - don't worry, I've done it many a time, such as ending up with a pair of 2's and $120 in the pot. As you can guess, I didn't win it. |
