Pacific Poker Offers Safety Measures
20 December 2005
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Popular Mac online poker rooms like Pacific Poker offer a Java based poker room which some players are paranoid might not be safe. Mac poker rooms say this paranoia is completely false and Mac poker software is as safe as Windows poker software.
Reasons for paranoia among Mac users and poker players come from the thought of players being able to see their cards by hacking into your computer. Mac poker software uses a "no download" software that runs in the browser by using Java. This software is unhackable says many online poker rooms.
Poker rooms like Pacific Poker take pride in offering their customers the safest software possible. They say they would not offer any poker software that would compromise their business in any way. The no download or Mac compatible software does not allow any sort of cheating in any possible way.
Online poker pros say that suspicions and paranoia among online poker players stems from bad beats and poor play. The inexperienced players tend to believe that they are doing everything right and they are losing because of being cheated. In most cases players can not accept that they are not properly playing poker and thus must blame it on cheating.
Unfortunately, poker rooms and software programs tend to be hot spots for player accusations. Party Poker is also very common talk around forums and chat rooms on wether or not their software is safe. The phrase "How to cheat at online poker" gets thousands of hits a month from paranoid losing players.
A common cheat among online poker was the process of using bots to automatically raise, bet, check, and fold for them using the software to calculate odds. This cheat software was commonly used on limit games. Most all poker rooms including Pacific Poker's Mac poker room do not let these cheat software's enter their poker portals anymore. |

I don't worry too much, I don't play for enough to ever lose out significantly anyway. So what if they got my bank details? Not as though theres much in there for them to take!
Software is always one step behind the crackers, though anyone with that level of knowledge will be after specific targets, and Joe Public isn't one of them. |
