Ive rescently seen a big argument on Pot Odds, like if someone lays you 3:1 you should fold your hand, or something like that. Can someone explain to me the whole Pot Odd's, and how does the money in the pot determine whether you should keep playing or not? Besides the size of your stack.

Let's say you have a nut flush draw. You will hit it about 35% of the time. There is 10 in the pot. Someone moves in for 10. You have to call 10 to win 20, and are therefore getting 2:1 odds and should call. By folding you lose money.

Basically, Pot odds, are the amount you need to call versus the money in the pot against your odds of making a hand.

I would love to tell you "I don't use pot odds", and technically I don't calculate them, don't really need to. I use a risk/reward strategy. Is the bet too big, too small for the chances of hitting a hand.

You see pot odds are useless when you have the winning/best hand.

Pot odds are not useless when you have a winning hand. If you know you have the best hand at the time and you bet enough that would make the call a bad one for your opponent (based on HIS/HER pot odds) you made a bet that is profitable in the long run.
