I normally play cash games at my friends house, about 4hrs a night. we usually play very low stakes like $0.05-$0.10NL. its usually around 5 players and im most always on the winning end of it. well recently i showed my cards when i bluffed, and now this one dude has it out for me, so he raises about 75% of the bets i make no matter what the position. well ever since he started doing this i am completely off my game. hes pretty much like a maniac but only when im in the pot. how can i take advantage of this? also this new kid that i play with calls pretty much every bet so i never know how to read him. so basically im asking how to take advantage of a maniac and a constant caller.

It's nice to have those problems. For both players, you just need to bet and raise big when you know you have the best hand, and fold when you don't. Bluffing will obviously not work on these guys, so don't even try. If they decide they are always going to call you, they're going to lose a great deal of money to you overall.

I guess i would just start playing tighter for a little while when he's at the table, and try to give him a really bad beating one or two times to get him to stop being such a maniac.

I had the same problem. Im normally an agressive player, a kid used to recklessly re-raise me.. I stopped this by moving all-in a couple times while i had him covered. Other then that, i just played it a little more tighter when he was in the pot with me, i would only raise when i got the winning hand, other wise i would just call.

You are actually very lucky. One of the biggest parts of bluffing, is getting caught, so you get much looser callers, they think you are bluffing, or don't know.
The easy part now, is don't bluff anymore and let him reraise your good hands and take the money. Do not try anymore bluffs, until they realize you're not bluffing anymore and are just beating them senseless. This may take some time, but you should be taking money off of them. Once they cool down. Bluff again, this will totally get them off tilt, and you will have the same advantage all over again. |
