| My friend and i were playing some hold'em the other day, and i dont remember the exact cards but we both went all in and he was holding a 7 of hearts and some other card and i had a king of hearts. the five community cards were all hearts, with an Ace of hearts on the board. he said that since there was a flush on the board and the high card of the flush was on the board, we split the pot. I say since it is your best five cards that win then there is no way my king wouldnt be one of my best five cards. ive tried to look this rule up but found nothing... who wins? |

yeah, but online the closest thing i could find to a rule that would explain this said "when flushes tie, go to the high-card rule." but the only way a flush could tie is when the high card is in the community...
also, is it not your best FIVE cards, and if so would my king not be in my best five? making my flush higher? |

No you do not split the pot. You play down till the fifth flush card if you have to.
IE if the board is A78J2 all of hearts and you hold the king you hold the nuts. |

The highest cards held by a player in combination with the board wins; in this case, the hand holding the King of Hearts would take the pot.
Hand A: Kh 2h
Hand B: Qh Jh
Board: Ah 9h 5h (turn & river are blanks)
A's total hand = Ah Kh 9h 5h 2h
B's total hand = Ah Qh Jh 9h 5h
A's King beats B's Queen |

You've got a higher flush, so the way I'd always play it would be that you win the pot.
It's a little harsh on your opponent, but again it's a case where you are rewarded for taking higher cards into a hand. |
